- 48 - A B S T R A C T A binding for fibre bundles, a method for the production of the binding and an apparatus for carrying out the method. A binding for bundles of fibres 2, 3 in which fibres 4 originating from at least one of the fibre bundles wind round the rest 5 of the fibres in a manner locked by tension. Fibre bundles which are to be bound are deformed between deformation members 11, 12 and fibres are removed from at least one of the fibre bundles and are wound in a manner locked by tension round the remainder of the remaining pieces of fibres to be bound. The deformation members 11 and 12 are positioned very close to each other and each have a profiled surface. They can be moved in opposite directions 15 and 16. The fibre bundles 2, 3 which are to be bound are deformed in the gap 14 between the deformation members. Some of the fibres are at least partially detached thereby to form the winding 4.
