ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved method and apparatus for adding ball- milled cellulosic material to alkali cellulose in the viscose manufacturing process, the improvement comprising adding the ball-milled cellulosic material at atmospheric pressure in the form of a fine air suspension of the cellu- losic material, then feeding comminuted alkali cellulose into the suspended cellulosic material to form an intimate mixture thereof, and mechanically agitating the intimate mixture after it is allowed to settle. Since the process is conducted at atmospheric pressure, complex equipment such as a cyclone separator is not required and the process is thus readily integrated in a continuous commercial viscose operation.
