ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Heterocyclic derivatives of guanidine are disclosed which have the formula: Image . (I) wherein: n is the integer 1, 2 or 3; R1 is an alkyl, cycloalkyl, alken-2-yl, hydroxy-loweralkyl, aralkyl and aryl; R2 may be hydrogen, alkyl or aryl; R3 may be hydrogen, alkyl or aryl; R4 may be hydrogen, methyl or ethyl; R5 may be an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl or substituted aryl; -N? taken together may be a 3- to 7-membered saturated heterocyclic ring; and R may be an alkyl, cocloalkyl, bicycloalkyl, bicycloalkenyl, tricycloalkyl, arylalkyl, diphenylalkyl, fused diarylcycloalkenyl, fused arylcycloalkyl, phenylcycloalkyl, cycloalkylcycloalkyl, phenyl and substituted phenyl, 3-pyridyl and substituted 3-pyridyl and 5-membered heterocyclics. The derivatives have been found to have anti-secretory and hypoglycemic activity.
