Abstract of the Disclosure Intermediates of the formula Image in which R2 is hydrogen or a hydroxy protecting radical, R4, R5 and R6 each are hydrogen or lower alkyl and n is an integer from two to five, with the provisos that at least one of R4, R5 or R6 is hydrogen and that R2 is hydrogen when R6 is lower alkyl are useful for pre- paring 5-unsaturated prostanoic derivatives. A process for preparing these intermediates is disclosed. -1-
