Abstract of the Disclosure N-cyano- and N-alkynyl-2-(substituted phenoxy) butyramide compounds having the formulas: 1) Image in which X is selected from the group consisting of chlorine, bromine, thiocyano and methyl and R is selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, and methoxymethyl; and 2) Image in which X is bromine or methyl and R is hydrogen or methyl, and their use as mildewicides for controlling the growth of mildew are disclosed.
