ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A rotary type railway car coupler comprising a shank slidably fitting within a yoke collar and attached thereto by a connecting pin; said yoke collar having an opening including a pin seat flange against which said pin seats when said coupler is in its normal running position, said shank and yoke collar having a coacting projection and slot means disposed relative to said coupler and said pin seat flange so that said yoke collar can only be assembled with the pin seat flange located such that it lies on the lower side of said coupler when the latter is in its running position.
