ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A tube pressure filter including an inner compartment having an inlet which comprises a substantially annular upwardly inclined passage extending around the lower end of the inner tubular body and having an outlet aperture debouching into the inner compartment. The substantially annular, upwardly inclined passage is constructed and disposed so that, in use, feed material debouching from the outlet aperture has an upward component of velocity, and so that it is in communication with an ante-chamber into which a mixture to be pressure filtered can be introduced under pressure through a feed conduit, the feed conduit including or co-operating with a non-return valve which valve, when the tube pressure filter is in use, closes the bore of the feed conduit when the inner compartment contains a mixture under high pressure to prevent the flow back along the feed conduit of feed material.
