ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Extruded thermoplastic tubing is passed whilst molten through an external cooling housing having one or more multi-perforated air rings. An additional final cooling ring is provided which cools the precooled film tube with air supplied from a continuous, uninterrupted annulus surrounding the tube. A major advantage of this process is that produc- tion speeds can be increased while maintaining bubble stability.
