ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A filter element for filtering solid particles from a flow of fluid comprising a sheet of filter material which is formed with a plurality of spaced parallel fold lines about which the sheet is folded to form a series of pleats, the ends of the pleats being connected together to form a plurality of pockets, the two opposite edges of said sheet which extend in directions transverse to said fold lines being each folded inwardly to provide a double thickness of material along each of said edges.
