ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An osmotically driven dispenser for dispensing an active agent composition into a fluid-containing environ- ment is disclosed. The dispenser comprises a wall that defines a compartment that contains the active agent composition and a gas-generating composition; and an outlet passageway through the wall to the compartment. The compartment also optionally may contain a foam-forming composition and a surfactant. The wall is permeable to the fluid and substantially impermeable to the contents of the compartment. At least one of the compositions contained in the compartment is soluble in the fluid and when in solution exhibits an osmotic pressure gradient across the wall against the fluid.
