ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A disposable product, such as a diaper, sanitary pad, or underpad, comprises a backing sheet, an absorbent pad overlying the backing sheet and a top sheet overlying the pad. The top sheet is of a non-woven hydrophobic material, such as polypropylene or polyethylene fibers, and the top sheet is held in contact with the pad at locations spaced from the periphery of the pad. This may be accomplished by point or line embossing, by adhesives, heat sealing, or any other suitable form of bonding.
