ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification describes an article wrapping apparatus comprising means for advancing the article in a pre- determined direction through a film curtain to partially wrap the film about the article and with a tail of the film trailing behind the article, means for advancing the partially wrapped article in the direction comprising a roller conveyor beneath the article, a wheel above the article and means for selectively turning the wheel to advance the article over the roller conveyor and locking the wheel to hold the article against forward motion on the roller conveyor, a carriage on which the roller conveyor is mounted, means for moving the carriage in the direction of article advance to expose the article bottom, and folding means for sweeping the tail forwardly and up against the exposed bottom of the article during the holding of the article by the wheel, the folding means comprising a roller assembly and means for advancing the roller assembly forwardly to substitute as a support for the forwardly moving roller conveyor, the means for advancing the roller assembly comprising a drive chain and means for guiding the chain along a curved path including an upwardly retracted part in which the roller assembly is clear of the path of an advancing article and a lowered advanced part in which the roller assembly comes into support relation to the article.
