A B S T R A C T A process for the preparation of hydrocarbons, comprising the following steps: 1) Preparation of a hydrogen- and carbon monoxide-containing gas by partial combustion of a carbonaceous material. 2) Conversion of carbon monoxide with steam into carbon dioxide and hydrogen in the gas obtained in step (1). 3) Separation of part of the carbon dioxide from the gas obtained in step (2). 4) Reaction of the remaining gaseous carbon dioxide with hydrogen to form hydrocarbons. 5) Separation and drying of the resultant hydrocarbons.
