ABSTRACT A process is disclosed for reacting olefins in a carboxylic acid medium with ozone using oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas for ozone production. The oxygen or oxygen-containing gas after leaving the ozonolysis stage is washed with the carboxylic acid used in the ozonolysis stage, then treated with an aqueous solution of an alkali and finally dried and returned to the ozone generator.
