ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE 4-oxo-hexahydro-pyrazonoisoquinoline derivatives are obtained by hydrolyzing a 2-acyl-4-oxo-1,2,3.6,7,11b-hexahydro-4H-pyrazono[2,1-a]iso- quinoline wiyh an oxygen-containing acid of inorganic pentavalent phosphorus or of hexavalent sulfur, or with an acid salt thereof. It has unexpectedly been found that such derivatives can be prepared in good yields in a one- state process, in which the hydrolysis proceeds selectively. These com- pounds are known to be effective as anthelmintics.
