PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention a trait à un procédé de préparation d'anhydrides d'acides carboxyliques par carbonylation. Selon ce procédé, on fait réagir du monoxyde de carbone sur un ester carboxylique, en phase liquide, en milieu sensiblement anhydre, en présence d'une quantité efficace de nickel, d'au moins un iodure d'alkyle ou d'acyle, d'un sulfone à titre de solvant et d'au moins un cocatalyseur choisi parmi les sels alcalins, les sels alcalino terreux, les iodures d'ammonium quaternaire et les iodures de phosphonium quaternaire. Le procédé convient notamment à la préparation d'anhydride acétique par carbonylation de l'acétate de méthyle.
