Abstract of the Disclosure A device for use in a nonmechanical printer retains and drives a polygonal mirror. A discoid plate is rigidly connected to the shaft of a drive mechanism. In the discoid plate adjusting screws are disposed. Adjacent to this discoid plate a retaining device for holding the polygonal mirror coaxially of the shaft is provided on the drive shaft. The retaining device for the mirror comprises a centre bore of short guidance length so that the retaining device is adapted to be tilted relative to the drive shaft. The mirror retaining device is resiliently braced against the discoid plate by means of the adjusting screws. The position of the mirror retaining device relative to the drive shaft can be adjusted by varying the adjusting screws. The retaining device has a cup-shaped recess in which the mirror is seated and the mirror makes contact with the wall of the recess only at its vertices. These vertices are bevelled.
