PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention a pour objet un procédé de préparation de monoxyde de chlore par action d'hypochlorite de calcium sur de l'acide sulfurique. Selon ce procédé, on fait réagir de l'hypochlorite de calcium de degré chlorométrique supérieur à 150° chlorométrique, à une température comprise entre 20°C et 50°C, sur de l'acide sulfurique de concentration supérieure à 50% en poids de SO4H2, la quantité d'acide utilisée étant de 5 à 15 fois supérieure à la quantité d'acide stoéchiométriquement nécessaire à la réaction. Le monoxyde de chlore ainsi préparé est notamment utilisable comme agent oxydant, en particulier pour le blanchiment des pâtes à papier.
