ABSTRACT A socket terminal comprises a stamped and formed elongate body with an annular recess and having a wire engaging portion at a rear end and a yin receiving portion comprising an annulus of resilient contact arms at a mating end, a seamless sleeve of corrosion resistant material receiving the contact arms and having an inturned flange at a mating end, a first annular depression in the sleeve engaging the recess to secure the sleeve to the body and a second depression in the sleeve engaging the contact arms adjacent their root ends thereby to impart a predetermined prestress to the contact arms with the free ends of the contact arms spaced from the sleeve so that they constitute cantilever beams.
