F-0988 ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION In a pressure let-down valve comprising a fixed choke and a variable choke means, a silver solder joint between the wear-resistant insert and the retaining ring is replaced by a mechanical joint. The mechanical joint is comprised of a split-locking ring, preferably consisting of two separate segments, fitting into an annular outwardly opening channel in the wear-resistant insert. The split-locking ring is fastened to the retaining ring to lock the wear resistant insert into place.
