A B S T R A C T A process for the preparation of an aqueous zinc sulphate solution for use as feedstock in a process for the electrolytic preparation of zinc, by means of leaching of roasted material, comprising a neutral leaching, a hot-acid leaching and a jarosite precipitation, each followed by a solid/liquid separation, in which process the residue of the jarosite precipitation is recycled to the hot-acid leaching.
