ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a cutter for separating individual. off-cuts of a rolled-up sheeting such as a printed paper web, said cutter comprising at least one driven and interchangeable take-up roll, a device for optically scanning the paper web according to cut markings, a cutting tool controlled by said device and a succeeding folding device for folding the separated web off-cuts, wherein the web is guided by way of a tension- equalizing and storage zone to an optical scanner and then to a take-up roll, which roll is driven by an elliptical gear drive with varying take-up speed.
