Abstract of the Disclosure Acyloxymethyl esters of 7-D-mandelamido-3-(1- methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrazol-5-ylthiomethyl)-3-cephem-4-car- boxylic acids are described herein. These compounds are prepared by reacting a cephalosporin acid with a halo- methyl ester of an alkanoic acid. These compounds are orally active broad spectrum antibiotics.
