ABSTRACT A mowing machine is disclosed which has a laterally extending elongated support member. Rotors are arranged in side-by-side relationship on the support and are provided with cutting members or blades arranged to be driven about respective upwardly extending axes by a driving transmission. The transmission is located in a gear box of completely enclosed construction and the rotors are mounted on and above a corresponding gear box. A drive shaft for the rotors extends through at least a lateral wall of the gear box and tubular members extend between consecutive gear boxes, the drive shaft extending through the tubular members.
