ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A rotating electrical machine having a self-supporting ironless stator assembly is disclosed which allows the surface area of the stator assembly to be directedly exposed to cooling air, minimizing temperature rise in the electrical machine. The rotor assembly is utilized to provide magnetic flux linkage with the stator assembly, allowing the stator assembly to be ironless.
