ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for the manufacture of a magnesium composite is capable of causing hydrogen generation upon contact with water. The method allows at least one member selected from the group consisting of iron, nickel, zinc, chromium and manganese prepared in the form of a metal power or an oxidized metal powder to be attached to the surface of magnesium by means of pressurized friction in an amount of 0.01 - 30% by weight based on magnesium.
