A B S T R A C T A swimming apparatus adapted to be used in small basins or swimming pools, said apparatus holding a swimmer by means of a belt fastened round his trunk, said belt being suspended in a cardan suspension allowing the swimmer to rotate both about his longitudinal axis and about a horizontal axis extending through the centre of the belt whereas the cardan suspension itself is mounted for rotation about a vertical axis extending either through or at a distance from the centre of the belt.
