ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a method for preparing a vaccine com- position which comprises mixing antigenic material with a matrix-forming material, subjecting the mixture thus formed to crosslinking and/or poly- merization to form a solid biodegradable matrix containing the antigenic material, and dispersing the thus prepared matrix in a liquid vaccine. Such matrices, after injection into animals, are capable of providing delayed, sustained or periodic release of the active ingredients, the type and time of release being dependent on the crosslinking conditions used in manufacture.
