Abstract of the Disclosure Alkylated 2,2'-biphenylene phosphonites are prepared by reacting alkylated 2,2'-dihydroxybiphenylene with dichloroaryl or dichloroalkyl phosphine in an organnic solvent. Said phosphonites are useful as sta- bilizers of organic polymers and lubricating oils especially as pro- cess stabilizers for polyolefins.
