Abstract The invention relates to a method and a device for gas filt- ration through a barrier filter (1) comprising a plurality of filter sections (2 a-c) connected in parallel. The cleaning of the filter sections (2 a-c) is carried out in sequence. It is known that the dust penetration immediately after com- pleted cleaning of a filter section increases substantially, due to the fact that there is no longer a filtrating dust layer on the cleaned filter material. Hereby the mean emission level of the entire filter often increases to an unacceptable level. The object of the invention is to eliminate these emission shocks. This object is achieved in that immediately after a cleaning operation of a filter section (2 a-c) the filtrate from this section is recycled via a return duct (14) to the crude gas duct (3) of the filer, and a filtrating dust layer is built up on the cleaned filter material. The recycling period can be controlled by measuring the particle concentration in the return duct (14).
