ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process is provided for the production of a Factor Xa preparation, comprising treating plasma with a prothrombin activator, removing suspended solids, mixing the thus obtained plasma liquid with a protein adsorbent to form a precipitate, eluting the precipitate with a protein elution agent and mixing the thus obtained eluate with-a Factor X activator, the Factor Xa pre- paration is employed in the determination of prothrombin for example, in the continuous monitoring of anticoagulation therapy.
