ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hook fastener of plastic material for garments, particularly brassieres, consists of two platelike fastener members, the first member having an arched bridge which protrudes from a major surface of the member and also having a complementary aperture in the major surface, which aperture has a contour which includes the projection of the bridge onto the major surface. The first member includes a portion for fixing the member to a garment. The second member has a portion for fixing the member to a garment. It also has at least one aperture and at least one lug, which lug may be received in an opening defined by the bridge of the first member. The aperture in the second member has a rectangular configuation with two edges extending in the direction in which tension is applied to the fastener and two transverse edges. One of the transverse edges is remote from the fixing portion of the second member and the other of the transverse edges is close to that fixing portion. The lug extends from the first transverse edge into the aperture in the second member and has an end which is spaced from the other transverse edge by a distance which is large enough to allow the insertion of the bridge into the aperture of the second member. The fastener of the present invention clearly overcomes the problem of metallic fasteners and the fasteners of the invention also do not apply local pressure to the body of the wearer.
