ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved blasting charge for a blast-actu- ated high voltage power switch is provided which contains at least one electrically combustible detonator and one blasting powder, the blasting powder containing a compound which forms electro-negative gases upon thermal decomposition. Halogen compounds are preferred compounds for use in the blasting powder.
