Abstract of the Disclosure A composition of matter having the formula Image wherein R is hydrogen or an organic radical, generally from about 1 to about 12 carbon atoms; R1 is hydrogen or an organic radical, generally having from about 1 to about 12 carbon atoms; R2 is an organic radical, generally having from about 1 to about 12 carbon atoms; R3 is an organic radical, generally having from about 5 to about 24 carbon atoms; w is a number having a value of from about 1 to about 10; x is a number having a value of from about 0 to about 4; y is a number having a value of from about 0 to 3; z is a number having a value of from 0 to 3; x is a halogen; and when x is greater than 0 the ratio of w to x is from about 12:1 to 1:2. preferably from about 1:1 to about 3.2, find utility as textile and paper treatment as surfactants and to improve the wet strength and water repellency.
