(U.S. 955,645) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A novel electrochemical cell is disclosed utilizing an alkali metal anode, a fluorinated carbon cathode, and an electrolyte which includes an alkali metal halide salt and a mixed solvent system consisting of an ether and a cyclic carbonate. Preferred are the cells wherein the anode is lithium, the cathode is C2F, and the electrolyte contains essentially of LiCl and a solvent system of dimethoxyethane and propylene carbonate.
