The invention relates to a method and installation for treating gaseous effluents produced by at least one electrolytic cell (1). According to the invention, the effluents are conveyed through at least one conduit (11) towards the treatment means (12-19) consisting of at least a reactor (12) which can extract the fluorinated products contained in the effluents by means of reaction with powder aluminium (16), and a separator device (13) which can separate the aluminium originating from the reactor (12) and the residual gas fraction and which comprises filtration means (14). According to the invention, before being treated, the effluents are cooled by means of (i) the injection of droplets of a cooling fluid into the conveyor conduits (11) at at least one point (P) upstream of the reactor (12) and (ii) the vaporisation of said fluid. The invention can be used effectively to cool electrolytic cell effluents without affecting the operation thereof.

L'invention concerne un procédé et une installation de traitement des effluents gazeux produits par au moins cellule d'électrolyse (1) dans lesquels les effluents sont acheminés par au moins un conduit (11) vers des moyens de traitement (12-19) comportant au moins un réacteur (12) apte à extraire les produits fluorés contenus dans les effluents par réaction avec de l'alumine pulvérulente (16) et un dispositif de séparation (13) apte à séparer l'alumine issue du réacteur (12) et la fraction gazeuse résiduelle et comportant des moyens de filtration (14). Selon l'invention, on refroidit les effluents, avant leur traitement, par injection de gouttelettes d'un fluide de refroidissement dans le ou les conduits d'acheminement (11), en au moins un point (P) situé en amont du réacteur (12), et par vaporisation dudit fluide. L'invention permet de refroidir efficacement les effluents de cellules d'électrolyse sans affecter leur fonctionnement.
