Abstract A synthesis of novel 1-(10-cyano/halo-5H-dibenzo- [a,d]cyclohepten-5-yl)-4-[(pyridylmethylene)amino]-pipera- zines is described. The procedure involves the addition of an optionally alkyl substituted pyridine having an attached carboxaldehyde radical or radical equivalent,to a 1-(10- cyano/halo-5H-dibenzo[a,d]cyclohepten-5-yl)-4-piperazine- amine. The resulting products are useful pharmacological agents possessing, for example, anticonvulsant properties.
