ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides 1,2,3-thiadiazol-3-in- 5-ylidene ureas in regulating the growth of plants. The com- pounds have the formula I Image (I) in which R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group which may be interrupted by at least one atom selected from oxygen and sulphur atoms, and R2 represents an alkyl group which may be interrupted by at least one atom selected from oxygen and sulphur atoms, an unsubstituted cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group of a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group substituted by one or more alkyl groups, an unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon group or an aromatic hydrocarbon group substituted by one or more sub- stituents selected from alkyl qroups, halogen atoms, alkylthio groups, alkoxy groups, trifluoromethyl groups and a nitro group, or an unsubstituted or substituted heterocyclic hydrocarbon group con- taining at least one nitrogen hetero atom, or R1 and R2 together with the adjacent nitrogen atom represent a morpholino, piper- idino or pyrrolidino group, R3 represents a hydrogen atom, an unsubstituted alkyl group containing 1 to 18 carbon atoms, a substituted alkyl group containing 1 to 18 carbon atoms in the alkyl part, an alkenyl group containing 2 to 8 carbon atoms, an aromatic hydrocarbon-alkyl group containing 1 or 2 carbon atoms in the alkyl part, an unsubstituted cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group containing 5 to 8 carbon atoms, a 5- to 8- ring membered cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group substituted by one or more alkyl groups each containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon group or an aromatic hydrocarbon group sub- stituted by one or more substituents selected from alkyl groups containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, halogen atoms, alkoxy groups containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a nitro group and a trifluoro- methyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted heterocyclic hydro- carbon group, an alkoxy group containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkenyloxy or alkynyloxy group containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms, an unsubstituted or substituted aromatic hydrocarbon-oxy group, an alkylthio group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an unsubsti- tuted or substituted aromatic hydrocarbon-thio group or an amino group of the formula Image , in which R4 and R5 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon group or an aromatic hydrocarbon group substituted by one or more substituents selected from alkyl groups containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, halogen atoms, alkoxy groups containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a nitro group and a trifluoromethyl group, and X represents an oxygen or sulphur atom.
