ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification describes a 1,2-benzisoxazole derivative represented by the formula: Image and a method of making same, wherein R1 is C1-4 alkyl or phenyl; R2 is isopropyl, tert-butyl, 3,4-dimethoxyphenethyl, or pheno- xyethyl; A is hydrogen, methyl, allyl, acetyl, acetylamino, cyclo- hexylureido or phenylureido; and n is 1 or 2. The process comprises condensing a compound of the formula: Image wherein R1, A, and n are each as defined above with an amine of the formula: R2NH2; wherein R2 is as defined above. The compounds of this invention have .beta.-blocking activity with low toxicity.
