ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: 1-¦2-(phenylmethyl)phenyl¦ piperazine compounds of the formula (I): Image (I) as well as their non-toxic acid addition salts, are useful as antidepressive agents. In this formula, R1 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms and a halogen atom. R2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, a halogen atom and alkoxy group having 1- carbon atoms and R3 is a hydrogen atom or methyl group. A process for preparing these compounds comprises reaction of the corresponding 2-(phenylmethyl) aniline with a bis-(2- laloethyl) amine.
