ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE 1-(3-Phenylpropyl)-4-furoylpiperazine represented by the following general formula (I). Image (I) wherein R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R3 represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a lower alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a lower alkoxy group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R4 and R5, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and pharmaceutically acceptable addition salts thereof. These compounds are useful as analgesic agents, and are characterized by their ability to produce analgesia without such side effects as seen in narcotic analgesics.
