Abstract of the Disclosure 1,4-Bis-[benzoxazol-2'-yl]-naphthalene compounds of the formula Image wherein R4, R5, R6, R7, R8 and R9 denote hydrogen or certain substituents. such as alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, sulpho, car- boxy and derivatives, aryloxy, aralkoxy, alkenyloxy, aralkyl, alkylsulphonyl and the like, R1 and R2 represent certain substituents, but preferably hydrogen and R' denotes particularly halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylsulphonyl, sul- pho or sulphonamido, a process for the preparation of those compounds as well as a process for optically brightening organic materials on using said compounds are disclosed.
