ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE 1,4-bisubstituted piperidines having the formula: Image are disclosed wherein R is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, fluorine, lower-alkyl, lower-alkoxy, trifluoromthyl or p-fluorophenyl, R1 is hydrogen, chlorine or fluorine, A is -C(O)-, -C(NOH)-, -CHOH- or -C(OH)(CH3)-, and B is -C(O)-, -C(NOH)-, -CHOH-, -C(OH)(CH3)-, or Image . The pharamceutically acceptable acid addition salts of the free bases are also disclosed. The compounds have moderate to strong central nervous system depressant activity.
