- 1 - Abstract The invention provides novel 1,5-benzothiazepine derivatives of the formula. (I) Image wherein R1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, R2 is hydrogen, lower alkanoyl or benzyl, R3 is hydrogen or lower alkyl and either one of R4 and R5 is hydrogen and the other is chlorine, or pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts. The derivatives (I) and their salts have potent platelet aggregation-inhibiting activity and are thus of importance in the therapeutic treatment of thrombosis.
