ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE l-Ethyl-6-fluoro-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-7-(1-piperazinyl)-3- quinoline carboxylic acid and metal salts thereof wherein the metal moiety is selected from the group consisting of silver, zinc, cerium and cobalt are useful in the treatment of burns. These compounds may be applied to the affected surface of a burn victim either directly or as part of a composition together with a physiologically acceptable carrier, such as a water-dispersible, hydrophilic carrier.
