ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE 1-methyl-2-chlorocyclopropane carboxylic acid and its lower alkyl esters are produced by selective hydrogenating dechlorination of the corresponding 1-methyl-2,2-dichlorocyclo- propane compounds. The novel compounds can be used as interme- diate products for the production of pesticides and drugs.
