Abstract of the Disclosure Novel 1-thiazolinyl-5(6)-substituted-benzimida- zoles are described herein which are useful as antiviral agents. These novel compounds are prepared by reacting the corresponding 5(6)-carbonyl-1-thiazolinyl benzimidazole with a Grignard reagent or alkyl lithium, followed by hydrolysis and optionally followed by dehydration and/or acylation.
