Abstract The invention relates to new 11-piperazinyl- 5H-imidazo[2,1-c][1,4]benzodiazepines, processes for preparing them and intermediate products and pharmaceutical compositions of general formula Image (I) containing the former, and the acid addition salts thereof. In this formula: R1 and R2, which may be identical or different, represent hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, trifluoromethyl, hydroxy, nitro, amino, cyano, methylsulphonamido, C1-4 alkyl, C1-3 alkoxy, C1-3 alkylthio or C2-4 acylamino, R3 represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine or C1-3 alkyl, R4 represents hydrogen, C1-4 alkyl, C2-4 hydroxyalkyl, C1-2 alkoxy-C2-4 alkyl, C3-6 alkenyl, C3-6 alkynyl, C3-7 cycloalkyl, C3-7 cycloalkyl-C1-3 alkyl or phenyl-C1-3 alkyl, whilst the phenyl ring may optionally be substituted by fluorine, chlorine, bromine, methyl, methoxy, hydroxy or trifluoromethyl, and n represents one of the numbers 1 or 2. The invention further relates to the intermediate.
