ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The description relates to the novel 14.alpha.,16.alpha.-ethano estratienes of the general formula (I) in which: A-B is a C-C single or C-C double bond, R1 is a hydrogen atom, a methyl or acyl group with 1-12 carbon atoms, and X is oxygen or (a) or (b), where R2 is a hydrogen atom or an acyl group with 1-12 carbon atoms, and a process for their production. The novel compounds are very highly oestrogenic and suitable for the production ofmedicaments.
