ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There are disclosed processes for the preparation of 14.beta.-hydroxy 3-deoxycardenolides by oxidizing a 3.beta.,14.beta.- dihydroxy cardenolide to form a 3-oxo-14.beta.-hydroxy cardenolide, and subsequently direct deoxygenating the 3-keto group. There are also disclosed novel compounds from such processes which compounds have pharmaceutical activity.
